A crucial tip to keep in mind is to blot the area rather than rub it. A clean cloth or paper towel should absorb a decent amount of the liquid if you treat it quickly. If the stain is stubborn, dilute the spot on your carpet by pouring a splash of water or club soda and continue blotting. You may also need the scrub the area with soapy water if it isn’t completely coming out.

You can buy a liquid chemical cleaner, but it’s just as easy to make your own non-toxic cleaner to use with your carpet-cleaning extractor. Mix ¾ cup of Hydrogen Peroxide, ¼ cup of white vinegar, two tablespoons of dish soap, five drops of essential oils, two tablespoons of fabric softener, and one gallon of hot water. Use this in your carpet cleaning machine to ensure your floors are clean and allergen-free!
