At Harborside Village, we’re a family-friendly community that recognizes how hard the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has been for children and their parents. This coming Easter season, we’ve thought up a few springtime ideas to help make the most of apartment living with your little ones. Whether you’re planning to dip-dye eggs in pastel hues, play musical easter baskets, or simply munch on all your Easter candy goodies — let us help you make the most of your indoor Easter entertainment activities with your children!
Apartment Living: Decorate Easter Eggs with Your Children
A classic Easter activity with your children? Decorating Easter eggs! To prepare eggs for decorating, you’re going to need to boil as many eggs that you wish to decorate. Whether you’re decorating 6 eggs or 9, you’ll want to place them in a saucepan with water that covers the eggs entirely. Bring the water to a boil with the eggs inside. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the eggs for 15 minutes. Drain the eggs, rinse with cold water, and let cool. While eggs are cooling, prepare side dishes filled with 1 teaspoon of vinegar and ¼ teaspoon of food coloring. Call your children over to decorate the Easter eggs! Dip each hard boiled egg into numerous colors with your children. After you’ve finished dyeing, refrigerate the eggs to eat!
Musical Easter Baskets
Everyone’s played musical chairs, but have you ever heard of musical Easter baskets? Musical Easter baskets are similar to musical chairs, but instead of chairs, you’ll have your Easter baskets lined up in a row. Make sure that there is one less Easter basket than there are players. Play the Bunny Hop around the Easter baskets, and then stop the music. When the music stops, each child must pick up an Easter basket. The child without an Easter basket can return to the family table. Continue until there’s only one child remaining, and then enjoy eating your Easter baskets!
Indoor Egg Hunt
An indoor egg hunt is very possible within our spacious layouts at Harborside Village! You can purchase colorful, plastic eggs from the local Target and fill each one with candy. Around your apartment, hide Easter eggs (in safe places!) for your children to find. They can place every Easter egg that they find within their basket for more candy to enjoy throughout the week. Hoppy Easter from Harborside Village to your family!
